Welcome to Danielle’s travels to the Antarctic   20 comments

This website was created so that my friends and family could follow my travels to the bottom of our planet. I have to thank everyone for their support. Without you, I wouldn’t be doing what I am today. In some way everyone I know has somehow helped me get to this point and with that, I wouldn’t have what I have today.

My posts are under Categories ( <– to the left). They start with my pre- deployment and will eventually include my time in New Zeland, McMurdo Station, New Harbor, and Salmon Bay. I look forward to hearing your comments and will try to keep this website updated as much as possible.

For those of you who don’t know, the purpose of this study is to collect an assortment of plankton from under the ice sheet. We will be melting out way through 10-30ft of ice to dive and collect core samples of the sediment on the sea floor. Should be a fun time and I promise, pictures will be coming!

  17. Hi….
I am the knitter of the Octo-hat. I contacted Henry Kaiser as I am a fan of his music and am aware of his work in Antarctica. It was my goal to send a knitted item to each of the 7 continents. I am happy to say I have achieved it. I hope you like the hat. Good Luck in your work and life. Take Care. Mike Zellers mike.zellers@gmail.com http://mikezellers.com
